Scientific Value |
Fifa contains thousands cist tombs whose use spanned the emergence and collapse of the first walled, urban settlements in the region . In the archaeology of
the southern Levant this site represents an incredibly important resource for researchers: it is one of only four large known EBA cemeteries (the others being
Bab-edh Dra', Jericho and Naqa).
|
Historical Value |
Early evidence for the site comes from Frank, who in 1932 mentions an Early Bronze site at Fifa (Frank 1934). In 1936 Nelson Glueck may have seen the site during his aerial survey of Trans jordan (Glueck 1937). |
